Wet Bora Bora

Jer here.

Sometimes even the best plans just don’t come together.  Today in Bora Bora was one of those times.  I mentioned yesterday that we had a private tour planned for today.  Even though this tour was booked over a year ago and confirmed by the tour company, they were not expecting us.  So our snorkeling and beach pig roast did not happen.  Instead we went with Plan B.  We went to the InterContinental Hotel and booked a day pass to use their facilities.  It is  a beautiful property and we enjoyed our time there.  Jer loved the pool.  BTW, you can book one of those bungalows for about $1500 per night.  Things are a bit pricey here.  We had two Bloody Marys for $33, yikes!  I prefer the $2 Bloody Marys on Sundays at the Old Mission Tavern in Traverse City.

The weather was a bit iffy.  We had periods of rain, clouds and wind.  It is the rainy season in Bora Bora.  You can see the clouds in this picture.

So, all in all, it wasn’t quite the day we expected in Bora Bora, but we doubt that anyone in Boston is going to feel sorry for us!

Here is a picture from where the ship is anchored.  You can see the ship tender in the left side of the picture.

At all of our stops in the South Pacific, there has been a band playing when we get off the ship.  These guys were great, very high energy.

So that is about it from Bora Bora.  It is a beautiful place, but we just hit it on a bad weather day.  This afternoon we sail for Rarotonga in the Cook Islands.  We probably won’t post tomorrow as it is a sea day, and unless we report about doing laundry, there won’t be much to say.  Will be back on Saturday.
