What a wonderful time we had last night on our adventure to Hobbiton. Crystal Cruises reserved the Hobbiton Movie Set for the whole evening. About twenty busses picked up guests from the ship and transported us, which took about an hour, through some beautiful New Zealand countryside.
We first walked through Gandalf’s Cutting to get to the garden. They have so many beautiful flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees.
You can see from this picture just how small the Hobbits were.
Thatched roof on one of the homes, but most were built into the side of the hill.
This is Frodo’s home at Bag End.
This is The Green Dragon. Lots of activities going on here. There were so many different kinds of food served along with wine, beer, soft drinks and coffee. There was live music, a fire eater, and some games being played.
Lots of Hobbits everywhere.
At the end of the evening they had a laser light show that they projected off a wall of water from the lake. It was awesome.
The evening ended with a fireworks display.
It was a delightful evening that we will never forget. I have so many pictures I wish I could share, but just not possible to upload on this internet. I hope you enjoy just a few of the highlights of this evening.
We are now on our way to Napier and have a wine tour booked for tomorrow.
