Crossing the South Atlantic

Hey Everyone,

We are still here and haven’t fallen overboard. We are on day six of seven of our Atlantic crossing after our wonderful journey to Madagascar, Mozambique, ad South Africa. It was a wonderful segment of the World Cruise.

We started our crossing of the Atlantic in very calm seas. Let me just say it was the calm before the storm. IMG 5027

A great show before the storm hit.

There was a wonderful production show called Out Of Africa. The singers and dancers do a superb job putting on these shows. The production of these shows are top notch.

We ran into a weather system that had the captain alter course and the ship being bounced around the seas. It was a little unpleasant for a couple of days and some of the shows were postponed as it was too rough for the dancers to be safe on the stage. We weren’t able to walk on deck for three days as they closed it off due to the high seas and wind. We are back to calm seas now and able to walk on the Promenade Deck again.

We have been to several lectures, movies, and I even started a needlepoint project (I was getting a little bored.)  We are still having a wonderful time, but I am ready to be on firm ground in South America.

Our first port of call will be in Montevideo, Uruguay.  There will be a World Cruise event called “Pueblo Gaucho” which is a celebration of 19th Century Uruguay. It will be held at the Estancia La Baguala, one of the oldest and most legendary estancias in the country. The day will conclude with a performance by the Uruguayan Candombe declared by UNESCO as “Cultural Heritage of Humanity.” It should be wonderful as was Hobbiton in New Zealand.

So, we only have one more day at sea. We will see you in Montevideo.
