Barbados and St Thomas

Hi All,

Just a quick update.  Today we are at sea heading for Miami.  On Thursday we were in Barbados and yesterday St Thomas.  We have been to both these ports several times, so we didn’t plan to do any touring.

We took the 30 minute walk from the ship into downtown Barbados.  Along the way, we stopped at a municipal market, lots of fish for sale.

The temperature was over 90 degrees with equally high humidity, so after walking for about an hour we returned to the ship.  We spent the rest of the day relaxing onboard, and the ship sailed for St Thomas at 3pm.

Arriving in St Thomas Saturday afternoon.

Always lots of big yachts in St Thomas.

After the ship was docked, US Immigration officials came on board to clear all the passengers and crew for our arrival in Miami.  It was done to avoid delays in getting everyone off the ship in Miami.  After going through the very quick immigration clearance, we went ashore for a bit of last minute shopping.  The downtown stores were all closed due to a carnival in St Thomas, but there is plenty of shopping to be had right next to the pier.  Last night we had dinner in the ship’s Italian restaurant.  It was a farewell dinner with four people who have become good friends during the cruise.

So, that’s a very quick look at Barbados and St Thomas.  We really didn’t do much picture taking in either port.  We are now on the last two days of the cruise.  Lots of activities planned on the ship for these two sea days.  We have started the big job of packing bags and completing our plans for getting home from Miami.  The cruise line provides limo service from the ship to the Miami airport,  and also from the Atlanta airport to our home in Dahlonega.  We will make a final blog post when we get home.
